As we plan travel for clients and travel the world ourselves, I’m always fascinated by how the same destination can impress travelers in different ways. I remind clients all the time, travel is not a “one size fits all” proposition!
Which comments sound like something you might say?
“I could not believe how the sand felt under my feet. Just like baby powder!”
“How do they make so any great meals with such variety, day after day?”
“I got goose bumps when they told us the stories of the lives of people who had walked those ancient cobblestones.”
“The turquoise water on that beach was totally amazing. All those beautiful fish!”
“The personalized service on our cruise was really my favorite thing. How did they remember my name?”
“I’ve always dreamed of seeing those glaciers!”
“It was magical to feel like we had gone back in time.”
“It was so meaningful to worship with others in that ancient cathedral. The acoustics made the music so beautiful!”
“I never knew how peaceful it would be sailing along the Danube.”

“We really needed that getaway to just … get away!”
“I loved seeing all the dogs with their families in the little cafes all over Europe. It made me miss my dog.”
“Seeing the Normandy beaches was a very emotional day, as I imagined those battles taking place in that very spot.”
“I’ve always wanted to try surfing out in Hawaii, so that was one of the highlights for me.”
“I finally got to try out my high school French!”
“I had thought the trip to Bora Bora was going to be a once in a lifetime trip, but we decided that we have to do that again in a few years.”
Just listen to your friends when they talk about special memories they have, and you will get a feel for how we are all so different in terms of what we would love to experience. Just look at all the different flavors of coffee!
We hope this will be the year you are able to do new things and go new places, where your reaction will be something like “Wow, I never thought I’d get to do that!”
So many great possibilities!
